Slovak Business Agency

The Slovak Business Agency (SBA) is a civil society, whose founders are the following organisations:

  • Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic
  • Entrepreneurs Association of Slovakia
  • Slovenský živnostenský zväz (Slovak Association of Crafts)

The SBA is one of the oldest and most important specialised institutions for supporting SMEs. It is mission is to support the development and growth of small and medium enterprises in the Slovak Republic. The agency coordinates activities, including financing, on the international, national, regional and local levels for the support and development of SMEs in the Slovak Republic.

Mission of the SBA

  • Comprehensive assistance for SMEs in accordance with the principles of the Small Business Act
  • Support for SMEs on the national, regional and local levels
  • Increasing the competitiveness of SMEs within the EU common market and in third country markets.

Main activities of the SBA

  • Envoy for SMEs – representing the interests of SMEs within the structures of the European Community
  • Analysis and monitoring of the business environment with an emphasis on SMEs – identification and analysis of barriers to business affecting SMEs
  • Financial services for SMEs – microloan programme
  • Non-financial services for SMEs – information and advisory services for SMEs on the national and international level
  • Pilot projects intended to open topics related to the Small Business Act – applying topics from the Small Business Act to real life in the Slovak Republic
  • Know-how transfer projects for developing countries – implementation of projects transferring experience and reforms to developing countries
  • Cooperation with partner organisations
  • Initiatives and campaigns – European SME Week, Global Entrepreneurship Week, Business Angels Club
  • Competitions – Businesswoman of Slovakia, European Enterprise Promotion Award
  • Information activity
